• Scholarly Communication 101: Starting With the Basics A Success

• At The 2009 LaSSAL Conference

On May 15th in Alexandria at the 2009 LaSSAL Conference board members Boris Teske, Michael Matthews, and Megan Lowe gave a presentation, "ACRL-LA and LaSSAL: Working and Learning Together." Click here to see the PowerPoint slides (2 MB).

• Academic Librarian Focus Groups

The ACRL-LA Academic Librarian Focus Groups will meet when possible. Focus group sessions will last approximately one hour. We will have refreshments available, including coffee!

The purpose of this focus group is to identify the skills and values academic librarians need now, as well as for the future. In concert with our support network program, members of the ACRL-LA executive board are hosting a series of focus groups which will ask participants:

1. What makes (or breaks) a successful academic librarian?
2. What skills should new academic librarians learn to be truly proficient in their jobs?
3. What are the values of our profession? How are those values changing?
4. How can we assist in the recruitment and retention of academic librarians?
