ACRL/LA Chapter

Business Meeting

ACRL-LA/LUC Fall 2001 Conference

October 25, 2001

The Business Meeting of the ACRL/LA was called to order at 9:00 by Karen Leeseberg, President.

Judy Irvin, Chair of Constitution and Bylaws Committee, gave a brief overview of the changes to the chapter’s Constitution and Bylaws.  The committee recommended changing the name to Bylaws, since chapter falls under the constitution of the American Library Association.  The committee also tightened up verbage of the bylaws and made meeting dates more generic instead of specific.  A motion was made and seconded to accept the changes to the bylaws as reported by the committee.  The motion passed.

Karen reported a total of 222 members as of October 24.  There is on-line registration for those who have not joined.

The chapter is helping with the arrangements of the ACRL Candidates for President luncheon held during mid-winter conference in New Orleans.

The ACRL/LA chapter is sponsoring a pre-conference workshop on Friday, January 18, 2002 at Tulane.  The workshop will explore applications of ACRL standards for academic libraries.   J.B. Hill, SLU, and ED Rock, Tulane, are coordinators of the event.  Volunteers are asked to contact either of the above or Karen Leeseberg.

After an introduction of the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:15.
