ACRL/LA MEETING

LLA CONFERENCE

MARCH 5, 2002

The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. by Karen Leeseberg.

Minutes of the last meeting were on the chapter’s website.

Ginger Bryan, Treasurer, reported a balance of $4665.01.  A copy of the report is attached.

Old Business

Karen reviewed the highlights of the past year.  She thanked Laverne Simoneaux for her work on the successful LUC/ACRL/LA conference in Hammond.

Judy Irvin was also commended for her work as chair of the By-laws Committee.  Judy  thanked Fred Hamilton and Kevin Cuccia for their assistance.

Karen noted that the ALA pre-conference workshop was very successful and thanked Ed Rock and J. B. Hill for their hard work.  Ed reported that 60 persons from all over the nation attended the workshop, and that reviews from attendees were very good.  The workshop netted a profit of $1156.

Karen also thanked Janette Griffin for her work in setting up the ACRL President’s Forum at the ALA Conference.

Karen reported that both she and Laverne Simoneaux attended the ACRL chapters meeting at ALA conference.

New Business

It was previously agreed that the profits from the ACRL/LA Pre-conference workshop should be used for a librarians development fund.  The chapter is looking at targeting the subject of information literacy since the Board of Regents is requiring colleges and universities to ensure that students are knowledgeable in obtaining information.  Laverne is looking into the ACRL immersion program to see if the chapter could use that format.

Ed Rock recognized the presenters of the ALA pre-conference workshop, Bill Nelson and Bob Fernekes.  Because they did the workshop non-gratis, the chapter was able to earn money for the development fund.

Karen announced that elections are coming up.  Laverne is in charge of the process and a new Vice Chair/Chair- elect will be elected.

Karen reminded members that the web site is the focal point of what is going on in the chapter.  The web site can be easily found by going to the ACRL home page, click on chapters, then Louisiana.  Karen asked members to please check often to find out what is going on in the chapter.

Karen thanked all committee members for their help this year.  Their hard work made her job

much easier.

Barbara Wittkopf thanked Karen for her hard work in making ACRL/LA such a successful chapter.

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Ginger Bryan

Secretary
