We're seeking nominations for three officer positions with the Louisiana Chapter of ACRL. The deadline to nominate yourself or someone else is Friday, June 3rd.
The President position is open to any professional librarian in Louisiana and must be a national member of ACRL (or willing to join). The President:
- serves a two-year term, beginning September 1, 2022
- will then serve a one-year term as Past President, beginning September 1, 2024
- serves a voting member of the Executive Board (meetings are held virtually)
- Conducts meetings, appoints Chairs of Standing or Ad Hoc Committees and Chapter Liaisons, and serves as ex-officio member of all Chapter standing committees (except the Membership and Elections Committee)
- Shares responsibility with the Vice President/President-Elect for coordinating the development of workshops and programs
- Serves as the Chapter’s official representative to ACRL and serves as a member of the ACRL Chapters Council
- Responsible for submitting an annual report on the Chapters’ activities and the annual budget report to ACRL
The Vice President/President-Elect position is open to any professional librarian in Louisiana and must be a national member of ACRL (or willing to join). The Vice President/President-Elect:
- serves a two-year term, beginning September 1, 2022
- will then serve a two-year term as President, beginning September 1, 2024, followed by a one-year term as Past-President
- serves a voting member of the Executive Board (meetings are held virtually)
- Shares the responsibility with the current President for coordinating the development of workshops and programs
- Responsible for holding the Chapters’ elections
- Appoints the Chair of the Membership Committee
- Conducts meetings in the President’s absence
- Serves as a member of the ACRL Chapters Council and shares a vote on the council with the President
The Secretary position is open to any professional librarian in Louisiana who is a member of ACRL or ACRL-LA (or is willing to join). The Secretary:
- serves a two-year term, beginning September 1, 2022
- serves as a voting member of the Executive Board (meetings are held virtually)
- Compiles the official membership and takes minutes at meetings
ACRL-LA hosts professional development opportunities for Louisiana's academic librarians, including providing free access to paid webinars, inviting guest speakers to the chapter's annual meeting, and hosting the Summer Research Forum. Since there are three open officer positions, this is an opportunity to influence the future direction of the chapter.
